Polygon Labs adds TRON to Open Money Stack for USDT payments and payouts

Polygon Labs said Open Money Stack now supports TRON, letting businesses take USDT deposits on TRON, route it to EVM networks and pay out to banks, cards or cash.

Why it matters

The integration puts Polygon's payment infrastructure in front of one of the largest pools of stablecoin liquidity, and pushes Polygon Labs into the same commercial territory as TRON-based payment providers, with revenue depending on licensed on-ramps and sponsor banks rather than on transaction fees. The Bitquery research, if it holds, complicates the adoption numbers Polygon has promoted, since a large share of the reported holder growth appears to come from scam-pattern addresses rather than payment activity.

NewsBTC and Bitcoin Insider frame the integration as connecting TRON's USDT to regulated US banking rails, while CoinDesk, Crypto.News and TheNewsCrypto describe it as a global remittance and payout integration that explicitly leaves licensing and regulatory duties with the business.

Key facts

Polygon Labs added TRON support to its Open Money Stack, letting businesses run USDT deposits, wallets, cross-chain transfers and payouts through one integration.

Reported by CoinDesk

Businesses can fund USDT payments with a bank transfer, debit card or cash and cash out later to a bank account.

Reported by CoinDesk

Polygon Trails lets businesses move USDT between TRON and supported EVM networks, including conversions to USDC, without customers using blockchain bridges directly.

Reported by Crypto.News

Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal told CoinDesk that connecting TRON to Open Money Stack gives businesses the service through a single integration.

Reported by CoinDesk

Bitquery found that addresses matching scam patterns accounted for 58% of net growth in Polygon's USDT0 holders since August 2025.

Bitquery reported USDT0 supply on Polygon fell 41% to $798 million and addresses holding at least $10 fell 42% to about 720,000.

What happened

Polygon Labs announced on 8 October 2026 that its Open Money Stack (OMS) now supports the TRON network, which the company says carries more than $94 billion in circulating USDT, more than half of the token's supply across supported chains. Businesses using the integration can accept bank transfers, debit card payments, cash or crypto, convert the funds into TRC-20 USDT, hold them in custodial or embedded wallets, route them between TRON and supported EVM networks, and pay out to bank accounts, cards, cash locations or crypto wallets, all through one integration and without sending customers to a bridge or fiat on-ramp. Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal told CoinDesk the point is to offer that service through one integration, and Polygon said it does not remove the licensing and regulatory obligations a business carries. NewsBTC frames the expansion in terms of regulated US payment rails, and Bitcoin Insider, citing crypto.news and NewsBTC, describes the effect as giving TRON USDT holders a route into US banking channels; TheNewsCrypto says the integration targets businesses whose customers already use TRON and cites more than $30 trillion in cumulative TRON transfer volume. A separate thread runs alongside: on 7 October, blockchain analytics firm Bitquery reported that about 58% of the net growth in Polygon's USDT0 holder addresses since August 2025 matched address-poisoning scam patterns, which sits against the 8.1 million holder milestone Polymon's commentator @0xPolygon flagged earlier in the week. Bitquery also found USDT0 supply on Polygon down 41% to $798 million, addresses holding at least $10 down 42% to about 720,000, and 48% of holders controlling less than one cent. Polygon has not publicly responded to the Bitquery findings in the sources gathered here.
