Ripple Prime Opens 24/7 Swaps on 100+ Traditional Markets via Hyperliquid
Ripple Prime started offering institutional clients swaps on more than 100 traditional-asset perpetual futures listed by Trade.xyz on Hyperliquid, trading around the clock with Ripple Prime as counterparty.
Why it matters
Ripple is extending a prime brokerage that already handles crypto perps into traditional-asset exposure, with Ripple Prime taking on the counterparty risk that lets clients hold those positions outside conventional trading hours. That shifts how much of the $9 billion real-world-asset derivatives market sits behind a Ripple balance sheet, and CryptoSlate notes the weekend-margin and hedging questions that follow.

What happened
Ripple announced on Oct. 15 that Ripple Prime, its institutional brokerage arm, has begun offering clients swaps referencing perpetual futures that Trade.xyz lists on Hyperliquid, spanning more than 100 markets in equities, stock indices, ETFs, precious metals, energy and foreign exchange. Clients do not trade on Hyperliquid directly; Ripple Prime enters each swap as principal, so the position sits in the client's prime brokerage account, can be cross-margined against other asset classes and can be collateralised with Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin where the jurisdiction allows. Ripple Prime runs the product through its British Virgin Islands entity, with other regions planned. Finance Magnates reported that Ripple acquired multi-asset prime broker Hidden Road in February 2025 and renamed it Ripple Prime, and CryptoSlate described the launch as building on Ripple Prime's February Hyperliquid integration and the total-return swaps on equities, indices and digital assets Ripple announced in August. Market maker Virtu is named by Bitcoin.com and Unchained as a client already trading the swaps. Bloomberg, cited by CoinGape, Finance Magnates and U.Today, put open interest in real-world-asset perpetual contracts at roughly $9 billion, up from near zero over the past year. CryptoSlate separately reported, citing 0xArchive, that Trade.xyz handled $59.4 billion of perpetual volume in September, 23.9% of Hyperliquid's total, across 110 listed markets. Michael Higgins, Ripple Prime's international CEO, told Bloomberg that some clients want exposure with round-the-clock access, and CryptoSlate flags as unresolved how Ripple hedges the exposure while the underlying markets are closed.
